Shakti uses magnetic fields with signals embedded in them for consciousness exploration, spiritual growth, mood enhancements, altered-state experience, and learning brain structure and function.

Your brain produces electrical signals as it operates. The 8 Coil Shakti applies magnetic signals to your head that mimic them. Because some brain structures have known 'signatures', they can be 'targeted' by applying their signatures as magnetic signals. Just as the brain has specific responses to specific chemicals, it also has specific responses to specific magnetic signals.

The 8 COIL SHAKTI headset moves magnetic signals between two sets of coils for altered states of consciousness, mood enhancements and improvements to meditation and other spiritual practices.

Alternating the signals (using the two stereo channels of your sound card) builds their momentum, and approximates the effects of 'rotation' used in laboratory studies.

These headsets have eight coils to make sure you are able to apply the signal to both sides of your head. This is a safety feature, and cannot be dispensed with.

    The KOREN HELMET rotates the signals between coils. It's a lab apparatus, and is not available to the public.

"How does Dr. Persinger artificially induce religious experiences in his patients?

"Dr. Persinger has designed a helmet that produces a very weak rotating magnetic field of between ten nanotesla and one microtesla over the temporal lobes of the brain. This is placed on the subject's head and they are placed in a quiet chamber while blindfolded. So that there is no risk of 'suggestion', the only information that the subjects are given is that they are going in for a relaxation experiment. Neither the subject nor the experimenter carrying out the test has any idea of the true purpose of the experiment. In addition to this, the experiment is also run with the field switched both off and on. This procedure Dr. Persinger claims will induce an experience in over 80% of test subjects."

"For several years, Persinger has been using a technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation to induce all sorts of surreal experiences in ordinary people (New Scientist, 19 November 1994, p 29). Through trial and error and a bit of educated guesswork, he's found that a weak magnetic field--1 microtesla, which is roughly that generated by a computer monitor--rotating anticlockwise in a complex pattern about the temporal lobes will cause four out of five people to feel a spectral presence in the room with them."

 The power of moving magnetic signals is illustrated in one study where 3 volunteers were given LSD and were given sessions with the Koren Helmet. When the coils were moving, the subjects saw "blobs of white, purplish, or greenish-yellow lights"....When the magnets (ordinary horseshoe magnets, not the coils or signals used in Shakti For Windows) weren't moving, the subjects didn't see these lights. And those were common magnets, not much different from the kind you might have on your refrigerator.

Meditation Enhancement, Out Of Body Experiences, Visions, Altered States, Lucid Dreaming, Visual Enhancements, and other effects have been reported from this technology.
The target structure responds to these signals, and to a lesser extent, other structures closely connected to it. EEG (electroencephalography) reads electrical activity from the brain, and it's 'traces' are the original source for most of the signals used in the Shakti Software.

They are produced using audio files that 'play' the signal to a set of magnetic coils. These coils produce magnetic signals. Notice that the signals switch channels. Some do so in a few seconds, and some do it in a fraction of a second.

With the 8 Coil Shakti, you can activate your brain, one part at a time. Most Shakti signals are derived from EEG (brain wave) traces.
One of the ways this technology has been effective is as a meditation enhancement. Meditation can be improved by when Shakti sessions end about an hour before beginning meditation. Interestingly, meditation during Shakti sessions doesn't work as well as meditation in the days and hours after sessions.

The same effect has been reported by people who are using other mind-machines after their Shakti sessions. Using other mind machines during Shakti sessions isn't recommended. The 8 Coil Shakti represents a new generation of a technology developed at Laurentian University's Behavioral Neurosciences Program, under the direction of Dr. Michael A. Persinger. This refers to deep states of relaxation as well as 'visions', enhancements in dreaming, mood elevations, and a whole range of 'special' experiences.

HOW DOES THE 8 COIL SHAKTI WORK?

It creates altered states of consciousness by applying magnetic signals to your head.

Shakti (and it's predecessors) rely on a simple idea. It began with several EEG (electroencephalograph) signals taken from parts of the brain that are known to be involved in religious experiences (the amygdala and the hippocampus). These structures turn out to be where the seizures begin in epileptics who had blissful or visionary seizures (not a common type of seizure, but it does exist). Besides these two signals, there several others including one that affects excitement and relaxation, and one that come from the 'pleasure center'. Others are derived from frequencies or mixes of frequencies that appear when EEG signals are 'averaged'. These EEG signals were converted into data files, and eventually into audio files, which play out through a sound card.
Instead of being played through speakers or headphones, they are 'played' through a set of magnetic coils, which produces magnetic signals instead of sounds.

Their magnetic signals 'match' the electrical signals from the structures we work with. As a Shakti session proceeds, these structures become more and more active.

Most people begin to feel something subtle about 10 minutes into the session. Half an hour into the session, that feeling becomes stronger.

If the session is successful, it begins to shape the person's experience. Sensory deprivation helps elicit effects during the session, including the kind that have been seen on so many TV documentaries about angels, UFOs, and Near-Death Experiences. These sessions went on for a full hour, though most Shakti users choose to do shorter sessions, which can be repeated more often.

You don't need sensory deprivation for sessions designed with lasting effects in mind. Sensory deprivation is crucial for intense sessions. A large portion of the temporal lobe's ongoing activity is devoted to monitoring ambient sounds. Silence is an important part of any sessions intended to create powerful experiences. Above all, relax during your Shakti sessions. Expectation 'tasks' the frontal lobes, and their activation can stand in the way of 'going within'. During your Shakti sessions, relax as much as you can without falling asleep.

Unlike the other versions of Shakti, the 8 Coil Shakti alternates the signals between two pairs of coils. It's more able to induce the intense effects demonstrated in television documentaries. It uses additional principles, which you can learn about HERE 

The 8 Coil Shakti can be used for altered states, but it can also be used for mood enhancement, though its not a treatment for psychiatric disorders. The most effective session for this kind of work has proved to the the "Feelgood" session. more
