It's a good idea to be sure your sound card can produce the very low frequencies (which
we'll call 'tones') that some of the Shakti signals use.
If your sound card won't produce at least a 30 hertz tone, it's probably not good enough
to use with Shakti.
Fortunately there are many good sound devices available. If you need to get one, you should
get one of the benchmarked sound devices on THIS page.
To check your sound card by hand, you should raise the volume to the maximum for both the
wave and master volumes. You can use the Shakti Volume Meter for this. Enter 100 in the percent box, and then click
Set All with your mouse. Then, click on the links
below to run the tones one by one. The lowest frequency you can hear.
To set your volume for this test automatically, click the blue button.
Make sure your speakers are turned up to the maximum if you are using external speakers! Headphones are best because they don't have volume controls. No need to wonder where to set the
volume.
