Modulated 40 Hertz "Chirp" Signal This signal is based on two principles. One, that a modulated 40 hertz signal is effective for eliciting altered states, due to it's interaction with the brain's "binding factor" (learn more), and two, that the greater the variation in a signal, the harder it is for the brain to habituate to it - or 'tune it out'. The scientific literature about complex magnetic signals contains many references to a signal "tailored from a 'chirp sequence'" with frequency modulations in the very low frequency range. One example of such a signal has referred to as a 'pulse' named for it's designer in the literature, but it was developed without being able to use the the modulated 40 hertz signal which had not been invented at the time. This signal is designed to introduce the modulated 40 hertz signal into a "frequency-modulated" signal that is also a "chirp sequence". This signal isn't a 'structure-specific' signal. It doesn't 'target' any one specific brain part. Rather, it targets a specific brain function - maintaining conscious awareness in normal states of consciousness. The modulated 40 hertz signal can alter consciousness in such a way that altered states are much more likely. One of it's features is seen in how another 'chirp' signal was used as part of two-phase sessions. These sessions were used in a series of experiments that later proved to be the most effective in reproducing "paranormal experiences". These consisted of a modified 'chirp' signal over the right side followed by an amygdalar signal over both sides. Each phase lasted 30 minutes for a total of one hour. It's important to understand that 'chirp' signals can be very unpleasant over the right side. Positive effects have been reported from their use over the left side, especially the temporal and parietal lobes. Using this signal over both sides of the head will be pleasant or unpleasant according to your individual and unique neural history. If you have a Shakti unit with four or more coils, you can take advantage of in use in two-phased sessions, where it is used before other signals in such a way as to enhance their effects. In the published studies using a similar signal, it was applied for 30 minutes before the amygdaloid signal, with the first phase having a chirp signal and the second phase having the amygdalar signal. In these cases, the chirp signal as applied to the right side, eliciting unpleasant effects, including fear. The second phase used the amygdalar signal over both sides. During the first phase, the right side of the brain become active and the left becomes quiet, and during the second phase, the focus of activity is directed to the amygdala, and the one on the left, specialized for positive emotions, suddenly becomes active. The result can be a phenomenal experience. The modulated 40 hertz chirp signal is best used as part of two-phase sessions. It is suggested that you not use it by itself until after you have used Shakti in other ways, including the two phase sessions that use the modulated 40 hertz chirp signal. By itself, a signal developed from a 'chirp sequence' has been informally tested in laboratory over the left side, and has been rated as exteremly pleasant, though the effects of using it over the left temporal lobe did not appear again when the session was repeated. Evidently the brain 'learned' that the positive emotional state was a false one (not related to any actual event) quickly. Using this signal over the left temporal lobe might be more productive when you are feeling bad (refering to all negative states except anger and irritability) than when you are feeling good. When beginning to use any signal, it's a good idea to begin with shorter sessions.
NOTE: Although this signal is based on well-tested principles, and has crucial design features which have been tested extensively, this should be considered an untested signal because it has several differences from it's predecessor. If you are not comfortable using an untested signal, do not use this one.
